We are seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to support field construction activities across industrial and energy infrastructure projects in Nebraska. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe execution of work related to compressor station construction, mechanical and piping installation, equipment setting, and site development. The Safety Specialist will play a critical role in driving a proactive safety culture, partnering closely with field teams and project leadership to maintain compliance and prevent incidents.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct daily field safety observations, inspections, and audits to ensure safe work practices
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and pre-task planning discussions
- Monitor contractor activities and proactively identify, assess, and mitigate jobsite hazards
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and all applicable safety regulations and procedures
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), permits, and safe work plans prior to execution
- Investigate incidents and near misses; develop and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Verify adherence to safety programs including PPE, lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work, and confined space entry
- Maintain accurate daily safety reports, documentation, and audit records
- Collaborate with project managers and field supervisors to promote continuous safety improvement and accountability
- 3+ years of experience in construction or industrial safety
- Direct experience supporting compressor station projects is required
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards
- OSHA 30 certification required (CHST, CSP, or additional certifications are a plus)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, field-based environment
