Description
The Sterilization Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and sterile environment within the dental office. This role ensures that all dental instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, disinfected, sterilized, and prepared for clinical use in compliance with infection control standards and regulatory requirements.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to established infection control protocols.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners.
- Maintain accurate sterilization logs and documentation for compliance purposes.
- Inspect sterilization equipment regularly and report maintenance or repair needs.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of contaminated and biohazardous materials.
- Keep the sterilization area organized, stocked, and properly labeled.
- Monitor inventory of sterilization supplies and notify management of replenishment needs.
- Store sterilized instruments appropriately to ensure easy access for clinical staff.
- Support dental assistants and clinical teams by ensuring treatment rooms are stocked with sterile instruments.
- Assist with training staff on sterilization protocols as needed.
- Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and office infection control policies at all times.
- Participate in ongoing education to stay current with sterilization best practices.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
