Job Summary /Primary PurposeThe Music Instructor will be responsible for teaching group and/or individual music lessons, developing curriculum and assessments, and establishing collaborative partnerships within the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Responsible for teaching individual and/or group music lessons.
- Actively participates in and supports the School of Music every week, and Sunday Worship Praise Team as needed.
- Design and implement curriculum, assessment rubrics, and lesson plans for each course taught. Maintain a record and summary of activities on a regular basis.
- Develop and implement ongoing collaborative partnerships for music programming with schools and organizations.
- Actively participate in recruitment and outreach efforts.
- Teach additional classes and workshops as needed.
- Attend all required department and facility meetings and training as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience- Bachelor's Degree in Music or equivalent qualified performance experience.
- Two to five years of teaching experience in a classroom setting or private/group lessons.
- Knowledge of music theory and curriculum design or evidence of experience in curriculum development.
- A record of musical performance experience.

- Ability to work with children, parents, and staff in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation.
- Performance experience in the individual content area of teaching.
- Start class on time with appropriate room setup and reset as required.
- Working knowledge of music literature.
- Philosophy of education and child development aligned with The Salvation Army.
- Positive attitude and willingness to promote the mission of the Salvation Army.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- English proficiency required;
Spanish helpful. - Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Exceptional flexibility and ability to manage multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to collaborate and work within a team.
- Attention to detail, creative problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to handle confidential matters.
- Strong independent judgment.
- General computer knowledge to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.
Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsMust successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 30 days of hire as established by The Salvation Army.
