Position
Purpose:
The role of a Substitute Teacher is to ensure that students receive quality instruction in the absence of their regular teacher.
Omaha Public Schools is seeking substitute teacher candidates who can fulfill the requirements for Nebraska Local Substitute permits. Experience working with children is required. College coursework in education or related experience is required.

RequirementsCandidates will be considered for a Local Substitute Teacher position after completing the online application and meeting the following requirements:
- Include email addresses for a minimum of three professional references.
- Upload a copy of your conferred degree or academic transcripts.
- Upload a copy of your Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) Local Substitute Teaching Permit.
- For the requirements and to obtain a Local Substitute Teaching Permit, please visit the NDE website.
- Do not apply for this position if you hold a degree in education and have (or are in the process of getting) a Nebraska teaching certificate. Please apply using the Certified Substitute teacher application.
Please note that the following are also requirements to maintain an active status with OPS as a local substitute teacher:
- A minimum of five (5) days worked per school year.
- A maximum of 90 days worked per school year.
OPS ONLY accepts valid Local Substitute Teaching Permits, not temporary permits
Work Schedule & SalaryWork Schedule/FLSA Status: Varies as needed.
Salary: $260.00 per day
