POSITION:
Head Boys Wrestling Coach ~ WHS
DESCRIPTION: Instruct student athletes in the fundamentals, strategies, rules, and physical training needed for individual and team success in wrestling. Promote participation, self-confidence, work ethic, and good sportsmanship in each student involved.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: This position reports directly to the WHS Athletic Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- High school wrestling coaching experience.
- Knowledgeable about the rules and fundamental techniques required of high school wrestling.
- Ability to obtain current CPR / First Aid when applicable.
- Ability to work effectively with sport coaching staff, parents, and school staff
- Complies with department / district policies.
- Maintains consistent communication with Athletic Director.
- Develop positive self image with athletes.
- Utilize sound teaching methods to develop skills / techniques.
- Demonstrate public support / loyalty for coaches.
- Demonstrate positive team sportsmanship toward opponents and officials.
- Demonstrates effective management of pre-contest details.
- Help to maintain a comprehensive year round wrestling program.
- Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Work with parents and children of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community.
- Ability to work with girls wrestling program and local club wrestling program
- Perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board of Education policies.
