Mary Our Queen, a PreK-8 Catholic School, seeks a qualified, nurturing, and dedicated educator to lead our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program for the 2026-27 school year. The TK Teacher serves as a vital bridge between Preschool and Kindergarten, providing a developmentally appropriate curriculum that prepares students for the rigors of elementary school within a faith-filled environment. The ideal candidate will foster a love for learning and Christ through play-based exploration, social-emotional coaching, and foundational academic instruction aligned with Archdiocese of Omaha standards.
RequirementsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Spiritual Leadership:
Guide children in developing a personal relationship with God through daily prayer, classroom devotionals, and the integration of Catholic values into all areas of play and learning. - Bridge Curriculum Development:
Establish high classroom expectations and implement daily lesson plans that bridge the gap between Pre-K and Kindergarten, following a long-term scope and sequence aligned with the Archdiocese curriculum. - Social-Emotional
Coaching:
Create a classroom culture and daily routine that prioritizes the development of self-regulation, independence, and social skills essential for a successful transition to a full Kindergarten environment. - Instructional Excellence:
Use multi-sensory and play-based teaching methods to introduce foundational literacy, numeracy, and fine motor skills. - Data-Informed Instruction:
Use formative and summative assessment data to track developmental milestones and adapt teaching materials to meet the unique readiness levels of individual students. - Collaboration:
Work closely with the Kindergarten and Pre-K teacher teams to ensure vertical alignment of curriculum and share best practices for early childhood development. - Communication:
Effectively communicate with parents regarding student progress, developmental readiness, and strategies for home support; maintain professional academic records. - Community Engagement:
Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with children, parents, staff, and the wider parish community. - Continuous Improvement:
Actively participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the MOQ School Continuous Improvement Plan.
Education and Experience
- Endorsement in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field is highly preferred.
- Practicing Catholic preferred, with a commitment to the mission of Catholic education
- Safe Environment Certified
