DescriptionReports to: Principal
Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesMary Our Queen Catholic School, serving students from preschool through eighth grade, is seeking a passionate and creative Art Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in both traditional and contemporary art techniques and will be committed to fostering creativity, critical thinking, and an appreciation for the arts in students. The Art Teacher will inspire and guide students to explore their artistic talents while integrating Catholic values and teachings into the classroom environment.
RequirementsInstruction:
- Teach art to students in grades K-8, utilizing a variety of techniques and media (e.g., drawing, painting, sculpture, digital art).
- Develop and implement a dynamic, age-appropriate curriculum that encourages creative expression and skill development while fostering a deep appreciation for the arts.
- Integrate Catholic values into art lessons by incorporating religious themes and promoting moral and spiritual growth through artistic expression.
- Plan and organize art exhibitions and school-wide art events.
Classroom Management:
- Create a welcoming and orderly classroom environment that encourages students’ creativity, self-expression, and respect for one another’s work.
- Establish clear expectations for student behavior, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
- Manage art supplies and resources efficiently, ensuring students have access to the necessary materials to complete their work.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administration to integrate art into the broader educational experience.
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior in the art classroom.
- Attend faculty meetings, parent‑teacher conferences, and school events as required.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Assess student work and provide constructive feedback, both in writing and verbally, to support growth and development in art.
- Track and document student progress over time, and provide periodic progress reports to the principal and parents.
Professional Development:
- Stay up‑to‑date on current trends in art education, art techniques, and Catholic teachings to continuously improve instructional practices.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and school‑wide initiatives to enhance teaching and learning.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Nebraska Teaching Certificate
- Safe‑Environment Trained
- Strong understanding of age‑appropriate art techniques and methods, with the ability to teach a variety of media and styles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- A genuine passion for teaching and a commitment to nurturing students’ artistic and spiritual growth.
