College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is one of nine colleges at the university. The college spans broad fields of education, health, wellness and fitness, human services, and hospitality industries. Its mission is to enhance the lives of individuals, families, schools and communities and strengthen the relationships among them.

The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs has leadership and administrative responsibilities focused on undergraduate and graduate curriculum, program evaluation, innovative pedagogy that prepares graduates to be life‑long learners and contributors to the workforce, and creating a climate that emphasizes and fosters a welcoming and engaged college community. This appointment is an Academic Year (AY) or Fiscal Year (FY) position, up to 0.70 FTE, 100% administration, with an administrative stipend of up to $15,000 and summer salary for AY only.

A .30 FTE faculty position with a negotiable apportionment in the home department will be provided.

Responsibilities
  • Student Success and Academic Support
    • Work collaboratively with the Senior Director of Student Services to support and cultivate innovative advising, retention, and degree completion initiatives.
    • Address academic appeals, grievances, and policy exceptions in accordance with university and college procedures.
    • Promote and develop initiatives that support co‑curricular and applied experiences that promote student success and career development.
  • Academic Leadership and Program Oversight
    • Provide leadership and oversight of the college’s undergraduate and graduate curriculum committees, Academic Affairs (including curriculum development, reviews, and assessment), and instructional technology.
    • Provide leadership and oversight of the Teachers Scholars Academy.
    • Provide leadership and oversight of the Interactive Distance Education Alliance (IDEA).
    • Foster collaborations and partnerships among units with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI).
    • Oversee academic policies, procedures, and standards related to instruction, grading, progression, and program completion.
    • Foster a respectful and inclusive culture in which contributions are appreciated and recognized, collaboration and innovation are encouraged, and the abilities of all are engaged to fully recognize the potential of the team.
  • Accreditation and Compliance
    • Lead and coordinate accreditation efforts, including HLC, CAEP, and other specialized program accreditation.
    • Work collaboratively with the CEHS Office of Accreditation, Placement and Licensure team related to educator preparation program compliance with state standards, licensure, regulatory requirements and accreditation.
    • Oversee the quality assurance system of data collection, analysis, and reporting related to student learning outcomes, program effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Work collaboratively with the Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Dean of Graduate Studies; facilitate linkages with university offices, committees, and other partners; serve as a college representative on the University Wide Assessment Committee, Academic Solutions Council and others as needed.
    • Engage external stakeholders – including P‑12 partners, community organizations and industry and global partners – to cultivate, nurture and sustain collaborative relationships that advance high quality initiatives and mutually beneficial partnerships.
    • Foster collaborative, interdisciplinary activities among academic units.
    • Ensure opportunities are open to all, encompass all constituencies and efforts are made to engage with a variety of audiences.
    • Partner with the college Strategic Communications Director to share successes and outcomes of Academic Affairs.
  • Vision and Innovation
    • Contribute to strategic planning and implementation related to Academic Affairs, enrollment management, and instructional innovation.
    • Support the development of new programs, concentrations, and delivery modalities (e.g., online, hybrid, certificates, micro‑credentials).
