Student Teacher – Spring 2026
Applying pedagogical knowledge in a real-world classroom setting, helping plan, deliver, and assess lessons to support student learning under the guidance of a certified mentor teacher.
The Student Teacher is supervised jointly by a cooperating (mentor) teacher and a university field supervisor. Regular evaluations and observations will be conducted throughout the placement.
Stipend: $5000
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborates with the mentor teacher to plan and implement daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards.
- Instructs students in whole-class, small-group, and individual settings.
- Uses various instructional strategies and technologies to support diverse learners.
- Assesses student progress through formal and informal assessments.
- Reflects on teaching practices and participates in regular feedback sessions with the mentor teacher and university supervisor.
- Manages classroom behavior effectively and creates a safe, inclusive learning environment.
- Participates in staff meetings, parent‑teacher conferences, and school events when appropriate.
- Maintains confidentiality and follows school policies and ethical standards in education.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for teaching and commitment to student success.
- Willingness to receive constructive feedback and apply it to improve teaching practice.
- Currently enrolled in a teacher education program.
- Completion of coursework in pedagogy, child development, and curriculum design.
- Other duties may be assigned by supervisor as needed.
Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimal exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set‑up.
