The Technical Instructor for Design Services plays a key role in developing and growing VDC designers and drafters s position develops and delivers engaging training that builds technical skills, strengthens leadership capability, and brings Interstates’ standards and best practices to life through classroom, hands‑on, virtual, and e‑learning instruction. Working closely with project leaders, SMEs, and design teams, the instructor helps create impactful learning experiences that improve consistency, quality, and confidence across design services while keeping training aligned with business needs and evolving industry practices.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, administer, and continuously improve Interstates’ technical training programs
- Identify, develop, and deploy technical training to meet personnel needs and certification requirements
- Plan, direct, and facilitate training using various methods (classroom, hands‑on, e‑learning, simulators, workshops)
- Prepare training materials and course agendas
- Conduct presentations using a variety of training methods
- Train and develop subject matter experts (SMEs) to assist in course facilitation
- Create instructor materials (e.g., course outlines, instructional materials, training aids)
- Continuously improve instructional delivery and presentation skills
- Present subject matter relevant to the industry
- Assist the Training Team in accordance with business needs and regulatory requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Associate Degree in a relevant technical field (Electrical Construction, Automation, Manufacturing, Drafting, Safety) with 3‑5 years of adult training experience preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
Essential Skills & Experience- Strong public speaking and group facilitation abilities
- Ability to train adults and develop SMEs
- Familiarity with instructional design and training delivery methods
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to write reports, manuals, and business correspondence
- Comfort presenting to various audiences (managers, clients, general public)
- Operational knowledge of databases and spreadsheets
- Ability to interpret technical procedures, regulations, and instructions
- Strong reasoning and problem‑solving abilities
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Positive professional demeanor and commitment to development
Travel will be required and will vary based on business needs, up to 35% of the time.
CompensationThe pay range for this position is $70,040 – $87,550 plus benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by the experience and education required, and level of responsibility. The range posted for this role represents a range that Interstates, in good faith, believes it is willing to pay at the time of this posting. The pay is determined by job‑related skills, training, education, and experience.
