Latino School Enrollment Program Assistant
The position supports the Latino School Enrollment Coordinator in promoting Catholic education within the Archdiocese of Omaha by accompanying Hispanic families as they explore and enroll in Catholic elementary and high schools. The role helps families understand the value of Catholic education and assists the Office of Latino Enrollment in initiatives that strengthen engagement with Latino families and promote access to Catholic schools.
Principal duties and responsibilities include fostering a warm and welcoming environment for families and visitors, ensuring respectful, attentive, and culturally sensitive service; receiving and following up on calls and inquiries received by the office; providing information about Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Omaha to families seeking educational opportunities for their children; assisting families with the enrollment, scholarship, and financial aid processes for Catholic elementary and high schools;
coordinating school visits, tours, and shadow days with Catholic schools, giving families firsthand insight into the values and benefits of a Catholic education; maintaining accurate and confidential physical and electronic records of students and families throughout the Catholic school enrollment process; participating in Catholic school promotional events, offering guidance and encouragement to families exploring Catholic education; developing and implementing work plans aligned with the goals and strategies of the Office of Latino Enrollment;
participating in the strategic planning process of the Office of Latino School Enrollment, contributing ideas that strengthen engagement with Latino families; participating actively in internal team meetings and contributing ideas for the continuous improvement of programs and services; assisting in preparing appointments, meetings, conferences, social events, and special projects as needed; and performing daily administrative and office support tasks as assigned by the Latino School Enrollment Coordinator.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities include a strong understanding of Latino culture and the unique needs of Latino families and communities; ability to work effectively within a strategic plan and contribute to team-based initiatives; ability to set goals, track progress, and achieve desired outcomes; demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds, personalities, and work styles; understanding of the importance of confidentiality and commitment to high standards of professional ethics;
self-starter with the ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks and responsibilities; excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and consistently deliver high-quality results; strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain information and respond to questions from families and students; ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups from diverse cultural and social backgrounds;
proficiency in basic computer applications, including word processing, data entry, records management and Microsoft Office Suite; ability and willingness to learn new technology systems and software applications; and familiarity with standard administrative and office procedures.
Education and experience include background in and/or knowledge of the Catholic Church with a demonstrated commitment to the mission and teachings of the Church; high school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred; bilingual and biliterate in Spanish and English required; and previous administrative experience in an office setting required.
Working conditions include flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as needed.
Travel requirements include travel to Archdiocesan and community events, school conferences or general visits required.
