Position PurposeThe Teaching and Learning Consultant (TLC) for Secondary Mathematics in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction Support has responsibility for the supervision, coordination, and improvement of mathematics instruction in relation to the goals of the school district. The individual will also provide leadership on trends and national and state initiatives related to math instruction with a specific focus on curriculum trends impacting the middle and high school levels.
The Secondary Mathematics TLC works to collaboratively provide educational opportunities, enabling all students to achieve their highest potential through work with principals, instructional staff, students, parents, and the community. The individual has responsibility for district-wide development, coordination, and articulation of mathematics curriculum and instruction programming.
- Master’s degree with an emphasis in mathematics education, administration, supervision or related field is required.
- A valid Nebraska Teaching Certificate with endorsement in administration and supervision is required.
- A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in secondary mathematics (grades 6‑12) is required.
- Prior experience in administration and supervision is preferred.
- Knowledge of secondary mathematics curriculum, instructional practices, and content for grades 6–12.
- Knowledge of current research, standards, assessments, and best practices in mathematics instruction.
- Ability to implement and monitor implementation of the secondary mathematics curriculum across classrooms and programs.
- Knowledge of best instructional practices and ability to model effective teaching strategies in mathematics.
- Knowledge of and ability to support blended learning, online instruction, and instructional technology integration.
- Understanding of equity‑focused instructional practices and the needs of diverse learners.
- Understanding of and ability to support the implementation of the District’s Strategic Plan and instructional initiatives.
- Exemplary organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to plan and deliver high‑quality professional development.
- Ability to provide instructional coaching and support to teachers and instructional leaders.

- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy.

- Coordinates with secondary school professional staff, grade‑level teams and content‑specific educators, to evaluate and assess curriculum, model effective practices, and support and coach instruction in mathematics.
- Provides expertise in curriculum, instruction, assessment and feedback systems to improve student achievement in secondary mathematics.
