Job Description
POSITION TITLE:
Head Boys Golf Coach – Buena Vista High School
MINIMUM EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a valid NE Teaching Certificate, NE Administrative and Supervisory Certificate, or NE Special Services Certificate endorsed in coaching.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree, with emphasis in Education preferred.
- Current or prospective employment as a teacher in the Omaha Public Schools and at Buena Vista High School preferred.
- Must meet Nebraska School Activities Association guidelines, including a Teaching Certificate and/or Special Services Certificate with endorsement in coaching.
- High school coaching experience in the specified sport; prior head coaching experience preferred.
- Deep knowledge of the sport and ability to foster positive human relationships with students, staff, parents, and community.
- High standards of professional ethics and conduct.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise the athletics program in golf at all levels, ensuring safety and well‑being of student participants.
- Set and maintain high expectations for academic performance as a condition for participation in athletics; monitor and support students’ academic success.
- Set and maintain high behavioral expectations; promote hospitality, sportsmanship, and fair play.
- Develop and communicate an approved plan for teaching and supporting student behavior, including consequences for unacceptable behavior.
- Develop and implement a cohesive golf program that teaches skills and promotes team play through instruction, practice, and competition.
- Enforce eligibility criteria for student athletes as determined by the school, district, and the Metropolitan and Nebraska School Activities Associations.
- Assist the Athletic Director and building principal in selecting, assigning, supervising, developing, and evaluating program staff.
- Promote the athletics program through district‑approved activities with elementary and middle school‑aged students to enhance skill development.
- Assist student athletes pursuing higher education and post‑secondary athletics in understanding opportunities, pursuing scholarships, and selecting appropriate options.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the public, following district guidelines for media communication.
