The University of Nebraska Omaha is hiring an Instructional Designer II. This role involves collaborating with faculty and subject matter experts to design, develop, and deliver engaging and effective online courses by integrating innovative instructional technologies and evidence-based strategies. The position also includes providing pedagogical training and support related to course design and instructional technology, and researching new academic tools and theories.

Highlights
  • Collaborate with faculty and subject matter experts to design learning activities and assessments that promote critical thinking and student-centered learning.
  • Support course design that addresses diverse learning styles, accessibility, and student engagement.
  • Evaluate course designs using rubrics and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Work with academic technology experts to recommend appropriate instructional technology solutions.
  • Develop training programs, tutorials, tools, and templates for online teaching and the Canvas LMS.
  • Research instructional design theories and emerging academic technologies.
  • Use project management systems to track and report project progress.
  • Required skills:

    Canvas LMS, Microsoft Office (Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook), video editing software (Camtasia or Adobe Premiere Pro), knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Required qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related field; 3+ years experience in faculty collaboration on online courses; 1+ year in higher education.
  • Pay range: $56,900 - $65,000 annually; full-time position within the Innovative and Learning-Centric Institution division at UNO.
