Job Description and Hours This position functions as a part of the Alpha School treatment and education team. The Intervention Specialist may assist in the development and implementation of individual and group behavior management programs, curricular programs, recreational programs, vocational programs, and other programs deemed necessary for the treatment and education of clients. This position will perform time out and other program behavior management procedures.
The Intervention Specialist will also provide other support duties as determined by the Program Director.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
2. Must not appear on the APS/CPS Registry for abuse/neglect, or have been dismissed from prior employment due to suspected abuse/neglect. Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
3. Must meet and maintain physical requirements of the position which include 75 pound lifting requirement.
4. Must maintain certification in basic First Aid and CPR and be able to perform these duties as needed.
5. Must maintain a certificate of completion in “Safe Kids Buckle Up” and use these procedures while transporting Alpha School students.
6. Must complete orientation in the Alpha School methods training for interacting with children and the Alpha School discipline policies and procedures.
7. Complete training in, and facilitate, good nutrition and food safety.
8. Display and teach infectious control practices including proper hand washing techniques, personal hygiene, and disposal of infectious materials.
9. Must possess and maintain certification concerning the identification of abuse, neglect, and sexual abuse of children, and the state’s reporting requirements.
10. Understand and follow “school-age-only” center regulations and requirements.
11. Follow Emergency preparedness evacuation plans in the event of a fire, tornado or in the event of aman made or natural disaster.
12. Work together with the other program staff in the monitoring and supervision of students both in andout of the classrooms.
13. Maintain assigned time out area: safeguard confidential information (electronic and paper forms) and keep area organized and work ready.
14. Maintain a high degree of confidentiality regarding client, personnel and administrative matters . Interact with professionals, staff, and students within a facility that treats students with sever behavior disorders.
16. Perform paper work duties such as reviewing, filing of student point sheets and other related materials.
17. Input data onto computer as it relates to time out.
18. Implement proper behavior management procedures following policies and guidelines with students.
19. Conduct Time After School (TAS) according to procedures and guidelines as scheduled.
20. Possesses and maintain a valid driver’s license, with no major violations (including DUI) in the lastfive years and no more than three moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the last three years.
Must report all moving violations, on or off duty, where a citation or ticket is issued to management within the next working day.
21. Drive agency van to transport students when needed or required.
22. Perform support duties such as assisting with arrival and dismissal, lunch, and other school related duties.
23. Provide back up support in a classroom as necessary.
24. Work one to one with a student who needs additional support as assigned by a supervisor.
25. Monitors and performs van maintenance in conjunction with the County Vehicle Maintenance Department.
26. Monitor supply levels of items for the school food program.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND
EXPERIENCE:
1. Must have a high school diploma or GED.
2. Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related human services preferred. Two (2) years experience with behaviorally impaired and emotionally disturbed children and adolescents is preferred.
