The Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) provides executive leadership to the academic affairs of the institution and is responsible for the successful outcomes of all academic programs, as well as coordinating and supporting continual improvement and institutional accreditation, as well as specialized accreditation, as applicable, of each of the academic programs to support the education and retention of students. The VPAA is also responsible for college leadership and planning in College Master Planning proposals, Strategic Planning initiatives, and fundraising plans.
The VPAA has oversight of all academic strategic program outcomes and supervisory responsibilities for multiple administrators, faculty, and staff members in assigned departments.
Accountabilities include but are not limited to: developing and executing short and long-range academic plans and strategies; communicating strategies internally and externally with all constituents; increasing visibility with College partners; creating and implementing short-term and long-term plans for student and faculty success; fostering sustained alumni relations; and improving and maintaining the quality of the College’s academic programs to meet and exceed key performance benchmarks.
This leadership role works in collaboration with the President’s Office, the College Executive Leadership Team, the Leadership Council, the College Board of Directors, and all community internal and external constituents.
- Doctoral degree in healthcare, leadership, education, business, or related field.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of leadership and academic experience in higher education.
- Experience in accreditation processes, program assessment, learning outcomes, curriculum design, and shared governance.
- Strong ability to collaborate and an openness to ideas, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Commitment to the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Goals of the College.
- Commitment to quality and integrity.
- Ability and willingness to multi-task, delegate effectively, and hold direct reports accountable in a professional manner.
- Skilled decision-maker, with transparency in decision-making and management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present, advocate for departments and share department needs, issues, and performance with diverse and multi-disciplinary audiences.
- Strong leadership skills to develop and maintain a high-functioning team.
- Proven track-record of relationship building and a demonstrated ability to be a strategic partner with a highly collaborative nature.
