Position: YMCA Staff Trainer (Aquatics: Lifeguard + CPR)

Staff Trainer

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Staff Trainer will provide YMCA staff, potential staff or community members in safety or program specific certifications and training, supporting the education and risk management of our team and the community.

1. Facilitates all aspects of assigned training classes.

2. Communicates effectively with participants before, during and after each class.

3. Manages classes in online training system.

4. Reviews forms and enters information accurately and thoroughly.

5. Keeps accurate records of course reports for both staff and community classes as assigned.

6. Actively participates in branch, department and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Bachelor's degree in relate field preferred

2. At least 1 year experience training/teaching adults required

3. Demonstrated success with written and verbal communication

4. Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours

5. Demonstrated success working independently with attention to detail required

6. ASHI or YMCA Instructor Certifications preferred, based on assigned trainer responsibilities

7. Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause & culture, and life safety training

8. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check

9. Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training.

10. Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities.

11. Complete all required abuse prevention training prior to first shift.

Hours will include evenings and weekend work.

Reliable transportation and travel among locations is required.
