Academic Advisor

The University of Nebraska at Omaha is hiring an Academic Advisor I. This role involves advising UNO students to guide their educational experience and professional development, assisting with transfer credit evaluations, supporting student retention, onboarding new students, and participating in strategic planning and university activities.

• Manage advising caseload, provide personalized guidance from admission through graduation, and assist with academic plans and course recommendations.
• Evaluate transfer and academic credits to facilitate timely degree completion.
• Support student retention by monitoring progress and fostering engagement and persistence.
• Provide coaching and referrals for students facing academic difficulties or probation.
• Orient newly admitted students and introduce institutional processes and technologies.
• Participate in recruiting activities by advising prospective students and promoting UNO’s educational programs.
• Contribute to unit and campus-wide strategic planning and continuous advising improvements.
• Engage with university committees and professional organizations such as NACADA.
• Requires a Bachelor’s degree;
  Master’s degree and some advising, recruitment, or retention experience preferred.
• Compensation is commensurate with experience; full-time, 12-month appointment, exempt status, no remote work option.
