Essential Functions

The School of Music seeks a dynamic and collaborative educator toteach in its established, comprehensive music technology program and its recently developed music industry program. Candidates should be accomplished musicians with a wide range of technical skills and expertise in music industry and music technology. The anticipated start date is August 2027.

Teach courses in music technology and music industry. Work collaboratively with all faculty. Willingness to contribute to all aspects of life in the School of Music including active involvement in the recruitment and retention of students and curriculum development. Additional duties related to candidate’s expertise and experience may also be assigned by the Director.

Preferred qualifications include substantial experience in bothmusic technology and music industry. Primary teaching responsibilities might include courses in music technology (such asaudio recording techniques), music business, music industrystudies, multimedia (game audio/film), and commercial musicensemble.

The successful candidate will demonstrate versatility in preparing students for today’s varied and evolving professional landscape.

Areas of knowledge should include rights and copyright, musicbusiness, music production, live music management, stageproduction, arts management, music administration, and commercialmusic. Additional potential teaching areas include appliedinstruction on rock and popular music instruments or inlaptop-based performance.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Music, eligible for appointment to graduatefaculty

Preferred Qualifications

1) teaching experience at the university level;
2) experience withrecording techniques, music industry, music business
