The Coordinator of Student Support Services position is a grant funded position integral to the success of the Nebraska Methodist College’s federally funded TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) grant. The position encompasses: advising, supporting students’ personal and academic needs, connecting students to relevant campus and community resources, assisting with food pantry operations, administering assessments, monitoring students’ progress, maintaining communication with faculty and staff, mentoring students, and developing a culture of community and academic success for SSS participants.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Student Support: Provides intensive coaching, academic support and intervention, career advising, personal and cultural support, and financial aid and literacy assistance through individual and small groups. Assists program participants with study skills, time management, and organization skills, identification of strengths, explanations of academic and financial aid policies as well as locating scholarship opportunities. Provides regular and intentional guidance toward improved performance through goal setting and leadership development.

Assessment, Documentation and Reporting: Responsible for ongoing monitoring of students’ progress towards graduation through assessments, goal setting and frequent contact with students. Timely recordkeeping and documentation of student information in Student Access (database). Use of Excel and Student Access to analyze data and track student data. Monitor students’ progress toward graduation by tracking grades, enrollment and attendance and participation in other college intervention services.

Maintain detailed student files in accordance with federal grant guidelines.
