Take Charge of Your Career at Interstates

At Interstates, we don’t just show up to work, we show up for each other. From our headquarters in Iowa to job sites across the country, we’re doing award-winning electrical, controls, automation, and OT work that powers industrial facilities for clients here in the U.S. and around the world. Whether you’re bending conduit, wiring panels, writing code, supporting projects, or helping things run behind the scenes, you’ll be part of a crew that works hard, shares laughs, and takes pride in doing quality work.

We believe in building strong teams, doing the right thing, and making a difference in the communities where we live. If you want to grow and do meaningful work, you’ll feel at home here.

Interstates is hiring an Electrical Estimator II. In this role, you’ll turn drawings, specs, and ideas into accurate, competitive estimates that help win and deliver complex industrial projects.

You’ll work closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams—playing a key role from early bid strategy through project handoff. If you’re detail-driven, collaborative, and comfortable working with ownership, this is a chance to directly influence project success.

What it’s like at Interstates

  • We’re serious about our work—and how we treat people.
  • A family-like culture where people genuinely look out for each other
  • You’re known as a person, not a number
  • Flexibility that supports life outside of work
  • Team events, lunches, and real connection—not just talk
  • Opportunities to give back through community involvement

Our Why

  • Provide opportunities for our people
  • Make a difference with our clients
  • Pursue a better way

What you’ll do

  • Build accurate, competitive estimates using Interstates tools and systems
  • Review drawings, specs, and bid documents to define scope and pricing
  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to develop project scope
  • Analyze cost history, labor units, and production data to strengthen estimates
  • Identify risks, gaps, and value-add opportunities—and communicate them clearly
  • Support proposal development and strategy with the proposal team
  • Document assumptions, clarifications, and decisions throughout the bid cycle
  • Assist with contract review, negotiations, and project handoff to execution teams
  • Contribute to improving estimating methods, tools, and standards

Additional responsibilities

  • Support change orders and cost-to-complete estimates on active projects
  • Partner with project managers and engineers on ongoing work
  • Help standardize estimating approaches across design/build and plan/spec work

What you bring

  • 2–3 years of industrial electrical estimating experience (or similar)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage details, prioritize work, and stay organized
  • Clear communication and a team-first mindset

Technical skills (preferred)

  • Microsoft Excel, Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat
  • Understanding of electrical fundamentals (voltage drop, conduit fill, ampacity, etc.)

Location & Travel

  • Omaha, NE (office-based)
  • 10% travel to nearby job sites

Why Interstates

  • 401(k) with company match
  • Health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance
  • Paid time off + holidays + flexible scheduling
  • Bonus incentives and merit increases
  • Career coaching and advancement opportunities
  • Team events, volunteer opportunities, and a strong safety culture
