About Building Engineering Services Group

The Building Engineering Services Group (BES) provides industry leading mechanical, electrical, plumbing, site civil, structural, and specialty design services for a wide variety of buildings that include public, municipal, private, and government project types. Projects span local and global scopes. BES areas include Healthcare, Datacenters, Science and Technology, Commercial Real Estate, Finance, Hospitality, Industrial, Municipal, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Federal facilities; delivering engineering excellence for our clients.

Role

We are searching for Mechanical Team Lead at our global headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.

In the role of Mechanical Team Lead, we ll count on you to:

  • Assist the Mechanical Business Class Lead with management and culture of the overall business class by directly supervising a team of mechanical engineers, EITs and designers with varying degrees of experience
  • Work as a collaborative team with fellow Mechanical Team Leads and the Mechanical Business Class Lead for work staffing and project proposals
  • Provide team leadership with a focus on technical excellence, quality, recruiting, mentoring, and staff development
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical market sector leadership to ensure technical excellence in key markets including commercial, civic, industrial, federal, water, transportation, healthcare, education and laboratories and mission critical facilities
  • Function as design lead or engineering project manager for key projects
  • Implement, monitor, and support company policy
  • Work collaboratively with other team leads, business class lead, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
  • Actively encourage and participate in work-sharing and mechanical practice development with a nation-wide network of HDR Mechanical Business Class
  • Assist the Mechanical Business Class Lead in the recruitment and growth of the business class
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Architectural Engineering with mechanical emphasis
  • Experience in development and management of diverse teams
  • Preference given to local candidates
  • Committed to quality, improvement and HDR values
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 7 years experience
  • Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments
  • Good leadership and organizational skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
