Job Description
The Plumbing Engineer works closely with more experienced engineers and assists in the development of Plumbing deliverables. This individual is expected to execute work on one or more intermediate level tasks simultaneously as delegated by the Lead or Sr. Plumbing Engineer. This role will have the ability to successfully support all phases of design including planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation and construction administration.
Core Activities
- Interfaces with clients and external partners.
- Develops construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on basic projects of limited complexity with oversight.
- Participates and contributes to squad checks and overall commitment to producing quality deliverables.
- Provides mentorship to Plumbing Designer I.
- Participates in basic project system design programming and master planning with support from Lead or Senior Engineer.
- Executes work on one or more intermediate level tasks simultaneously as delegated by the Lead or Sr. Plumbing Engineer.
- Assists in the drafting, design, and development of fire protection performance criteria drawings.
- Delegates some basic and fundamental tasks to Entry-Level and Design staff.
- Successfully supports all phases of design including planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation and construction administration.
- Works closely with more experienced engineers and assists in the development of Plumbing deliverables.
- Provides basic support of construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development and construction progress reports.
- Develops and expands ability to coordinate effectively with other disciplines, delegates, interacts with clients and manages scopes of work and deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications
- ABET-accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of experience
- Fundamentals of Engineering exam completion
- Proficiency in Revit
- Basic experience with performing engineering calculations (such as plumbing fixture and drainage units and storm water), and developing and implementing plumbing sanitary waste drainage, venting, storm water and service piping systems designs under a supervisor
- Basic experience with the plumbing/mechanical/fire/building codes
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Navis Works
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Bluebeam Revu
- LEED, WELL or other sustainable design accredited professional or, experience with sustainable plumbing designs
- Basic experience with other applicable industry standards (OSHA, FDA, ISO, etc)
- Basic experience conducting and leading field surveys of existing conditions and support of field reporting
- Proficient with basic internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination
- Proficient with basic coordination with construction trade partners, vendors and manufacturers
