Job Description

The Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting, planning, and implementing safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including those set by OSHA, MSHA, and DOT. This role involves advising the Safety Director on compliance concerns, planning and implementing employee training on safety practices, and maintaining safety files and records.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Advise the Safety Director on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
  • Plan and conduct training for employees on worksite safety practices.
  • Maintain safety files and records.
  • Perform safety surveys and inspections, and prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventative measures.
  • Conduct post-accident investigations and prepare reports identifying possible causes and hazards.
  • Accompany personnel to job sites to perform drug tests.
  • Assist in the development, evaluation, and upgrading of safety programs.
  • Manage inspection of job sites, equipment, and vehicles to ensure safe working conditions.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of safety-related experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience with OSHA regulations, First Aid/CPR, Confined Spaces, DOT, and Excavation safety.
  • Experience in writing detailed reports and procedures.
  • Experience in documenting investigations and presenting safety procedures to small groups.
  • Excellent computer and communication skills.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an environmental and/or occupational health and safety-related field preferred.
  • CHST certification preferred.
Work Environment

The position is based in Omaha, with work occurring at a data center location. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7/8 AM to 4/5 PM.

The dress code includes jeans, work boots, and a work-appropriate t-shirt or sweatshirt. High visibility vests, safety glasses, hard hats, and gloves are provided on site as needed. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $95000.00/hr.
