Senior Estimating Manager

Reports to:

Associate Director of Preconstruction. Exempt. The Senior Estimating Manager leads the estimation process for complex electrical projects, delivering precise cost assessments and competitive bids that reflect our commitment to quality, accountability, and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic leadership of estimating and proposal process, providing insight into pursuit strategy.
  • Detailed reviews of drawings and specifications to define project requirements, scopes, risks, and opportunities.
  • Active contribution to RFQs, RFPs, and client interviews.
  • Review bid outcomes and provide feedback to improve processes.
  • Communicate project challenges and opportunities to internal teams and clients.
  • Review and approve all estimates, bid submissions, and prequalification documents.
  • Support team in assembling detailed cost estimates, soliciting vendor and subcontractor pricing.
  • Prepare executive‑level bid estimates for final approval.
  • Maintain accurate data within CRM systems.
  • Review ITB folders weekly, select and set up projects for bidding.
  • Assign projects to estimators, support completion of bids, monitor productivity and workload balance.
  • Maintain bid logs, weekly production plans and dashboards.
  • Ensure estimating activities comply with company policies, safety standards, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop, maintain, and refine estimating best practices.
  • Identify and champion value‑engineering opportunities.
  • Facilitate handoffs to operations team for project execution.
  • Lead corporate bid reviews and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Lead a team of estimators to deliver accurate estimates across all project types and sizes.
  • Strategically assign and balance workloads to leverage strengths and development.
  • Foster a team environment valuing craftsmanship, curiosity, and continuous learning.
  • Provide coaching and career development support.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and engineers to optimize estimating strategies.
  • Serve as brand ambassador, representing the company professionally.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong due diligence, risk assessment, and strategic decision‑making.
  • Uncompromising integrity and ethical standards.
  • Analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Clear, professional communication and relationship building.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and safety requirements.
Demonstrated Accomplishments
  • Success in identifying, developing, and presenting value‑engineering opportunities.
  • Proven collaboration with customers and design teams on design‑build and design‑assist projects.
  • Proficiency with estimating software and tools such as Bluebeam, Accubid Anywhere, Live Count.
  • Independent leadership of bids on large, complex projects (>25M) and contribution to major programs (>50M).
Education & Experience
  • Relevant experience in estimating for large electrical projects.
  • Experience with estimating software tools.
  • Strong track record of leading bids on large, complex projects.
