Transportation Project EngineerWe have a career opportunity for an experienced transportation engineer to be part of an established service line at Benesch focused on enhancing transportation infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have expertise or an interest in furthering their career focused on planning, engineering design, and construction of transportation infrastructure for public agencies. The successful candidate will prepare and review plans, technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates related to a variety of transportation projects.
Project Engineers also mentor and supervise the work of technical support personnel assigned to the project.
This position has the opportunity for a flexible hybrid work schedule with the option to work from our offices in Omaha, NE;
Bellevue, NE;
Lincoln, NE;
Grand Island, NE; or Rapid City, SD.
- Developing detailed designs of urban and rural roadways from preliminary to final design
- Collaborating with team members, communities, and stakeholders to define data needs, project requirements, and outputs or to develop applications
- Compiling and coordinating plans, specifications, cost estimates, and pay items
- Supporting studies and alternative analysis to determine best solutions to meet compliance and client goals
- Working with various disciplines and reviewers to ensure complete, accurate, and high-quality deliverables
- Contributing to proposal development
- Managing small projects and project tasks and assisting Project Managers in overall large project delivery
- Managing and maintaining project documentation
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, or higher, is required
- Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain upon hire
- Project experience in transportation engineering design
- Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment on challenging projects
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to develop task deliverables in a complete and timely manner
- Experience working with local and state public agency clients (Public Works, DOTs, etc.)
- Proficient with using Microstation Open Roads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D design software
