Senior Material Control Manager for Advanced Manufacturing will be responsible for all material management aspects of purchased major capital equipment and materials for large projects (Total Installed Cost of $750M+). The Senior Material Control Manager applies functional knowledge and existing methodologies to solve complex problems while implementing innovative solutions.
Here’s What You’ll Do- Develop upfront materials planning activities such as the Material Control Execution Plan (MCEP), establishing Material Control Strategies, and developing project‑specific templates, reports and tools.
- Provide general discipline guidance to Construction Management & Procurement Professionals assigned to the Project, including on‑the‑job training and material management systems instruction.
- Use critical thinking and problem solving to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the Project’s Materials Management efforts.
- Utilize established policies, procedures, systems, and tools.
- Review Shipment Release Request related supplier documentation and ensure that Shipment Authorizations are approved in accordance with terms and conditions agreed within the purchase order and the Material Control Execution Plan.
- Coordinate the receipt of purchased equipment and prepare and issue Material Receiving Reports (MRRs), Overage/Shortage/Damage Reports (OS&D), and Equipment Preservation Log to accomplish project or group objectives.
- Evaluate facts surrounding material control problem areas and apply remedies to resolve them.
- Maintain material control documentation in a project repository.
- Identify and advise on material control related risks.
- Serve as the lead material controller or lead materials coordinator on medium to large projects and act as a subject‑matter expert in regard to a commodity or specialized subject area.
- Help stakeholders understand the overall Material Control process.
- Work independently, with guidance only in the most complex situations, and supervise the work of less senior material controllers and support personnel.
- Coordinate with project or departmental personnel in performance of the purchasing activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, construction, supply chain, logistics, operations management, or equivalent project experience.
- 15+ years of experience in capital equipment field materials management.
- 10+ years of experience in Advanced Manufacturing Projects (or related industry).
- Experience using MS Office tools, including intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.
- 10+ years of experience using Materials Management software & Enterprise Purchasing Systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Smart Materials).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
- Strong problem‑solving and organizational skills.
- A drive to solve complex and challenging problems.
- Willingness to indirectly lead and mentor a team of material control professionals.

The base salary range for this position is $ to $. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
