The Commissioning Manager oversees all commissioning activities for a large‑scale, mission‑critical hyperscale data center. This role ensures that every mechanical, electrical, controls, and IT system is tested, validated, documented, and delivered to the owner at full operational readiness. The manager leads cross‑functional teams, coordinates with contractors and vendors, and enforces rigorous quality, safety, and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities- Commissioning Strategy:
Develop and manage the full commissioning plan, schedule, and execution roadmap across all project phases (Cx Levels 2–5). - Systems Oversight:
Direct commissioning of critical systems including electrical distribution, UPS, generators, cooling systems, BMS/EPMS, fire/life safety, and IT infrastructure. - Team Leadership:
Lead commissioning engineers, technicians, and third‑party Cx agents; coordinate with design, construction, and operations teams. - Quality Assurance:
Ensure all testing procedures meet owner requirements, industry standards, and hyperscale reliability expectations. - Issue Resolution:
Track, manage, and close out deficiencies using structured issue‑tracking processes. - Documentation Management:
Oversee test scripts, checklists, reports, redlines, and turnover packages. - Integrated Systems Testing:
Lead IST to validate end‑to‑end performance of the data center under real‑world load and failure scenarios. - Stakeholder Coordination:
Serve as the primary commissioning interface for owners, hyperscale clients, contractors, and equipment vendors. - Safety Compliance:
Enforce safety protocols during all commissioning activities, especially during energized work. - Project Reporting:
Provide regular progress updates, risk assessments, and readiness reports to project leadership.
- Engineering Degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Commissioning Experience with large‑scale or mission‑critical facilities (data centers, hospitals, nuclear plants).
- Technical Expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, controls, and integrated testing.
- Project Management experience with complex, multi‑phase construction projects.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and equipment submittals.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
