Transportation Project Manager
Our Nebraska Division is seeking to hire a Transportation Project Manager. This is an experienced position involving exciting, challenging, and complex assignments with opportunities for growth. The ideal candidate will be a Seller/Doer and maintain good industry connections and relationships. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in design of roadways, highways, and interstates from preliminary to final.
LocationThis role offers flexibility in office location, with a preference for candidates based in central Nebraska. We also welcome applicants located in Omaha, Lincoln, or Bellevue.
Key Projects Across NebraskaSome examples of past and current projects that our Roadway team is working on:
- Lincoln South Beltway: Benesch served as the lead consultant for the $352 million Lincoln South Beltway project in Nebraska, providing environmental assessment, design, geotechnical services, and construction support. The project completed Lincoln's circumferential transportation network, improving regional connectivity and reducing urban congestion through 43 miles of roadway, 23 bridges, and multiple interchanges.
- US-81: This project is ongoing and will expand the corridor to a four-lane expressway between York and Columbus. Benesch is the lead consultant and responsible for providing roadway and bridge design.
- US-26: This project is ongoing and will focus on expanding the corridor to a four-lane expressway between Minatare and US-385. Benesch is the lead consultant and responsible for providing roadway, drainage, and bridge design.
- Serving as a project manager on transportation (state and municipal highway/roadway) projects, having key responsibilities for project pursuit and delivery, including management of scopes, budgets and schedules.
- Managing project teams and technical staff including mentoring of other professionals and student interns.
- Contributing to Nebraska, regional, and corporate strategic growth initiatives.
- Participate in Business Development and Marketing, including championing relationships with key public agency and private sector clients, networking, preparation of SOQs, proposals, and contracts.
- Representing Benesch at industry and professional engagement events.
- Identifying opportunities and leading strategic project pursuits.
- Leading and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Present findings thorough written and verbal communications skills, including public speaking at information meetings, client meetings, and interviews.
- Preparing and assisting with grant applications.
- B.S. Degree in Engineering, or related, and a Professional Engineering License in Nebraska (or the ability to obtain one upon hire) are required.
- Excellent communication, strong written, oral, and client relation skills, experience interacting with clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders.
- Experience in making presentations before elected officials and advisory boards, attending conferences, and participating in interviews.
- Strong organization and leadership skills.
- Prepare technical analysis within a variety of specialist areas such as transit plans, transit operational analyses, multimodal subarea/corridor studies, modal compliance, transit grants management, and special transit studies, among others.
- Experienced in Project Management, including cost control, project budget control, and quality assurance/quality control.
- Direct and manage the budgeting and execution of projects including the supervision of assigned staff and subcontractors.
- Ability to work independently and develop task deliverables in a complete and reviewable manner.
- Experienced in the public bidding process.
