Responsibilities
- Review electrical and related infrastructure systems for Military, Civil Works, state, local government, and tribal projects to ensure consistent, high‑quality, reliable, and cost‑effective designs across USACE and DOD.
- Evaluate electrical and mechanical equipment in the field to resolve construction or functional problems and determine design adequacy.
- Provide technical assistance in the preparation of design studies, plans and specifications, cost estimates, design analyses, and test procedures for complex electrical designs and architect‑engineer (A‑E) scopes of work.
- Develop expertise in the design of military building and infrastructure systems, and hydroelectric and non‑hydroelectric dam electrical support systems.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination following a completed background investigation.
- Requires temporary duty or business travel of up to 5% of the time.
- GS‑07 Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience or one year of graduate–level education in a relevant field. Experience must include application of electrical engineering theories, concepts, standards, and methods sufficient to assist in the development and evaluation of conventional assignments. - GS‑09 Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience in assisting with preliminary and final designs, analyses, and contract plans for electrical engineering features of A‑E assignments. Alternatively, a master’s degree or two years of graduate education, or a qualifying combination of education and experience that meets 100% of the required percentage. - GS‑11 Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience applying electrical engineering concepts to the design and layout of underground and overhead primary/secondary systems, interior distribution devices, and lighting systems. Alternatively, a Ph.D. or three years of higher‑level graduate education, or a qualifying combination of education and experience that meets 100% of the required percentage. - Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (ABET–accredited or equivalent with requisite coursework) is required for GS‑05 and above. For GS‑07+, GS‑09+, or GS‑11+ additional graduate education may be required as specified per grade.
- Foreign education must be evaluated and deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program.
- Must be a U.S. citizen. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must provide a Selective Service registration statement.
- Proof of citizenship and eligibility to work in the United States is required.
- One‑year trial or probationary period may apply.
- Direct deposit for pay is required.
- Position may be subject to restrictions from the Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
