Field Technician

Job Description

The Field Technician supports environmental air testing, environmental health and safety (EHS) compliance, and hazardous materials testing across a wide range of commercial, industrial, and construction sites. This role is heavily field-based and involves performing air sampling, conducting compliance inspections, and supporting project teams to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality site operations.

Responsibilities

+ Perform environmental air sampling, including indoor air quality, mold, and asbestos monitoring at client sites.

+ Conduct environmental health and safety (EHS) testing and inspections to support compliance with OSHA and environmental standards.

+ Collect, label, and document samples for hazardous materials testing, including asbestos, lead-based paint, and other hazardous building materials.

+ Calibrate, operate, and maintain field equipment and instrumentation used for air testing and hazardous materials assessments.

+ Prepare accurate, detailed field reports and documentation that clearly summarize testing procedures, results, and observations.

+ Assist in planning and executing environmental testing projects, including scheduling site visits and coordinating logistics.

+ Coordinate on-site activities with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant field operations.

+ Track project timelines, deliverables, and compliance requirements to support successful project completion.

+ Follow established safety protocols and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while working in varying site conditions.

+ Support remediation and environmental compliance efforts by providing reliable field data and clear communication to project managers and stakeholders.

Essential Skills

+

Experience with air testing, including indoor air quality, mold, asbestos, or other environmental air contaminants.

+ Experience working with asbestos, lead, or other hazardous building materials in a field or testing capacity.

+ Knowledge of OSHA standards and environmental compliance requirements related to EHS and hazardous materials.

+ Understanding of commercial construction environments and large industrial facilities, including typical site practices and safety expectations.

+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, accurate field data and documentation.

+ Ability to calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot field testing equipment and instrumentation.

+ Effective communication skills to interact with clients, contractors, and internal project teams on site.

+ Ability to work primarily in the field across commercial, industrial, and construction sites, often under varying environmental conditions.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Two-year degree or four-year degree in environmental engineering, civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.

+ Experience in construction, commercial building, environmental engineering, or related disciplines.

+ Certifications such as Asbestos Inspector, Air Monitoring Specialist, or equivalent asbestos-related credentials.

+ Certification as a Lead Risk Assessor or similar lead-related credential.

+ OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification.

+ Experience or training in remediation, mold assessment, industrial hygiene, or environmental compliance.

+ Demonstrated ability to take ownership of field assignments and support project management activities.

+ Interest in a growth-oriented career path with opportunities to move into Project Management based on strong field performance and client communication.

Work Environment

The role is majority field-based across commercial, industrial, and construction sites, with frequent work in active building and industrial environments. The Field Technician works in varying site conditions, including indoor and outdoor locations, and must use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by site and regulatory standards. The position involves regular travel to client locations, hands-on use of environmental testing equipment, and adherence to strict safety and compliance protocols.
