Overview
HDR Building Engineering Services Group is seeking a Fire & Life Safety (FLS) Team Lead at our global headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska. The Building Engineering Services Group provides mechanical, electrical, plumbing, site civil, structural, and specialty design services for a wide variety of buildings across public, municipal, private, and government project types. HDR serves markets including Healthcare, Datacenters, Science and Technology, Commercial Real Estate, Finance, Hospitality, Industrial, Municipal, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Federal facilities.
Responsibilities- Assist the FLS Business Class Lead with management and culture of the overall business class by supervising a team of fire protection engineers, EITs, ICC, NFPA, or NICET certified designers with varying experience levels
- Collaborate with FLS Team Leads and the FLS Business Class Lead for staff staffing, forecasting, and project proposals
- Provide team leadership focused on technical excellence, quality, recruiting, mentoring, and staff development
- Collaborate with FLS market sector leadership to ensure technical excellence across key markets including commercial, civic, industrial, federal, water, transportation, healthcare, education, laboratories, and mission critical facilities
- Serve as design lead or engineering project manager on key projects
- Implement, monitor, and support company policy
- Work with other team leads, business class leads, operations managers, technical directors and marketing managers on business class efforts
- Encourage and participate in work-sharing and FLS practice development with a nationwide HDR FLS Network
- Assist the FLS Business Class Lead in recruiting and growing the business class
- Perform other duties as needed
- Travel (domestic and international) may be required at various times. Travel is estimated to be 15% or less.
- Engineering PE registration
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in related field
- Maintains professional engineering license or ICC, NFPA, or NICET certification
- Experience in development and management of diverse teams
- Commitment to quality, improvement and HDR values
- Preference given to local candidates
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 7 years experience
- Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role
- Strong communication and listening skills
- Ability to handle multiple assignments
- Good leadership and organizational skills
