Position Summary
We are searching for a Fire & Life Safety (FLS) Team Lead at our global headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska.
Responsibilities- Assist the FLS Business Class Lead with management and culture of the overall business class by being the direct supervisor of a team of fire protection engineers, EITs, ICC, NFPA, or NICET certified designers with varying degrees of experience.
- Work as a collaborative team with fellow FLS Team Leads and the FLS Business Class Lead for work staffing, staff forecasting, and project proposals.
- Provide team leadership with a focus on technical excellence, quality, recruiting, mentoring, and staff development.
- Collaborate closely with FLS market sector leadership to ensure technical excellence in all key markets including commercial, civic, industrial, federal, water, transportation, healthcare, education and laboratories, and mission critical facilities.
- Function as design lead or engineering project manager for key projects.
- Implement, monitor, and support company policy.
- Works collaboratively with other team leads, business class leads, operations managers, technical directors, and marketing managers on business class efforts.
- Actively encourage and participate in work-sharing and FLS practice development with a nation‑wide network of HDR FLS Business Class.
- Assist the FLS Business Class Lead in the recruitment and growth of the business class.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Travel (domestic and international) may be required at various times. Travel is estimated to be 15% or less.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the related field.
- Maintains professional engineering license or ICC, NFPA, or NICET certification.
- Experienced in development and management of diverse teams.
- Committed to quality, improvement, and HDR values.
- Preference given to local candidates.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 7 years experience.
- Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Good leadership and organizational skills.
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must.
