Job Description

This role focuses on using BIM tools to design and document mechanical and electrical systems for large-scale commercial projects, with a strong emphasis on data center work. You will regularly use Revit and AutoCAD to draft and assemble design components, including circulatory piping and HVAC systems, while collaborating closely with engineers and field teams to ensure accurate, buildable designs.

Responsibilities

+ Use BIM software, including Revit and AutoCAD, on a regular basis to draft and assemble mechanical and electrical design components for large construction projects and multiple data centers.

+ Develop and update detailed work drawings for circulatory piping, HVAC systems, and other mechanical and electrical elements in commercial and data center environments.

+ Review blueprints and project documents to determine customer requirements and design criteria for mechanical and electrical systems.

+ Consult with assemblers and field personnel regarding schematics and installation details to ensure designs are practical and constructible.

+ Collaborate with engineers to discuss and interpret design concepts, clarify technical requirements, and translate them into detailed BIM models and drawings.

+ Apply mechanical and electrical design principles within the MEP industry to produce accurate, code-compliant layouts and documentation.

+ Coordinate BIM models with other disciplines to support clash detection and maintain consistency across project drawings.

+ Incorporate feedback from project stakeholders and revise drawings and models to meet project deadlines and quality standards.

+ Support commercial design efforts by preparing drawings and documentation for submittals, fabrication, and installation.

+ Maintain organized project files and ensure that all drawings and models use the latest software versions and company standards.

Essential Skills

+ At least 1.5 years of hands-on experience using Revit in a design or drafting role.

+ At least 2 years of experience working with BIM tools and workflows.

+ A minimum of 3 years of AutoCAD drafting and design experience in the mechanical or electrical MEP industry.

+

Experience with mechanical and electrical design in commercial environments, including HVAC and piping design.

+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.

+

Experience with Revit MEP for modeling mechanical and electrical systems.

+ Familiarity with commercial design practices and standards for MEP systems.

+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy when producing and reviewing technical drawings.

+ Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, assemblers, and other project stakeholders.

+ Strong time-management skills with the ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

+ Degree in a related field is preferred but not required.

+ At least 1 year of electrical design experience in a commercial or MEP setting.

+ Experience working on large construction projects, especially data centers or other complex commercial facilities.

+ Understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems and how they integrate within BIM models.

+ Interest in growing into project management roles over time.

+ Comfort working in a family-oriented, relationship-driven company culture.

+ Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements and leverage the newest design software tools provided.
