DLR Group has an opening for a Civil Engineer.
Position SummaryAs a Civil Engineer you will work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary design team to produce civil engineering designs on a variety of projects, including mixed‑use, commercial, educational, sports, hospitality, and municipal buildings, as well as other site development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients as part of our integrated design process.
- Design, coordinate, and prepare site development documents using Autodesk Civil 3D, covering site layouts, horizontal and vertical controls, grading and drainage, storm sewer and stormwater management, paving, site utilities, and other civil engineering deliverables.
- Perform complex assignments, applying best judgment in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of civil engineering techniques.
- Conduct independent civil calculations, including code research.
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, narratives, and jurisdictional permitting applications.
- Write and review specifications.
- Review shop drawings and other construction‑related correspondence.
- Conduct site visits as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
- 5+ years of civil engineering experience focused on site development for buildings.
- Prior experience in an A/E or civil engineering design firm.
- Understanding of integrated design processes and a collaborative approach with multiple disciplines.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D.
- Knowledge of additional civil engineering software such as Hydraflow, Storm & Sanitary Sewer Analysis, and Infra Works.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Goal‑oriented with strong problem‑solving, creativity, and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of stormwater management requirements and hydrologic design.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and setting priorities to meet schedules.
- Interest in sustainable site design and low‑impact development strategies.
- Knowledge of ArcGIS.
- Familiarity with Sketch Up or other rendering software for site plan presentations.
