- Coordinate with the client, the MEP/FP/IT design team, and other consultants to ensure the design is consistent with the client’s vision, to identify and resolve areas of conflict, to ensure a fully coordinated interdisciplinary design, and to ensure the design schedule is maintained.
- Participate in meetings and conference calls when deemed necessary.
- Become familiar with the codes that are applicable to the project.
- Use AutoCAD and other software to create fire protection construction document packages which include drawings, construction specifications, and reports.
- Design fire protection systems including all associated devices, equipment, and specifications.
- Prepare superior quality fire alarm device layouts and riser diagrams.
- Perform all required calculations to support design decisions.
- Coordinate with local utility companies to provide the required utility services to the project.
- Coordinate with equipment vendors and manufacturer’s representatives for selection and specification of appropriate equipment.
- Provide construction administration services, including answering requests for information (RFIs).
- In possession of Associate’s degree or higher in Fire Protection Technology, Engineering Technology, Computer Aided Drafting, or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Mechanical, Electrical or Fire Protection.
- Previous fire protection design experience involving fire sprinkler, fire pumps, and standpipe systems with an MEP/FP engineering consultant or design/build contractor.
- Knowledge of NFPA 72 codes and industry standards for fire and fire life safety.
- Previous experience with Auto Sprink Fire Sprinkler Design software or other fire sprinkler design software.
- Exceptional communication and organization skills, including ability to prioritize tasks and multitask.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently upon receiving necessary direction and information.
