- Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering methods and principles to the design and modification of industrial facilities.
- Understand project technical requirements and assess engineering effort required to meet client objectives.
- Understand and apply standards and codes from industry-specific professional organizations such as ASME, API, ASTM, ANSI, OSHA, MSHA, PIP, etc.
- Utilize judgment and expertise to analyze process conditions, perform calculations, and create engineering deliverables, including specifications, data sheets, drawings, and contractor scopes of work.
- Guide designers in the 3D modelling of equipment, piping, ductwork, structures, etc., to develop safe and effective facility models.
- Supervise drafting efforts to produce clear and accurate construction drawings.
- Provide material take-offs and assist in estimating materials, labor, and engineering effort to determine project feasibility.
- Develop engineering project work hour estimates and contribute to proposal development.
- Lead and participate in project teams of engineers and designers from all technical disciplines.
- Interface with clients, suppliers, and construction personnel throughout all phases of project planning, design, and construction.
- Manage client needs and expectations.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain license within one year.
- 8 – 12 years of related work experience in engineering and design of systems for process industry.
- Meaningful experience in an engineering services (consulting) environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office®, PDF® mark-up applications, and relevant engineering and project management applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Adept at independently organizing and prioritizing work assignments and coordinating multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines in achieving excellent outcomes.
- Ability to travel for short durations to and perform ambulatory tasks at industrial facilities and construction sites.
- Desire to create your own niche in the organization and to develop expertise in unfamiliar subjects.
- Entrepreneurial spirit.
- Capability to participate in marketing efforts in key market sectors.
- Must pass safety training for various industrial clients and comply with OSHA 10 requirements for customer sites and walkthroughs.
- Shall have a valid U.S. driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to operate a company vehicle.
- Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering or chemical engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program.
- Licensed in multiple states.
- Experience in Agricultural Processing, Renewable Fuels, Food & Beverage, Power Generation, Chemical processing, and Mining.
- Strong working relationships with customers, contractors, fabricators, vendors, etc.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position approximately 6-8 hours per day.
- Ability to ascend/descend stairs and ladders when visiting job sites.
- Ability to perform work on elevated surfaces using fall protection equipment when visiting job sites.
- Ability to work in varied environmental environments: heat, cold, wind, etc, when visiting job sites.
