Responsibilities- Design fire alarm system BIM models from design information and data provided by Engineers/Architects, including sketches, detail diagrams, and calculations.
- Generate contract documents from the model and perform other BIM uses identified in the BIM Planning documents.
- Use design analysis software and integrate analysis data with Revit when required.
- Apply NFPA and industry standards for fire alarm system design criteria.
- Understand multi‑discipline facility design and the project life cycle from concept to construction.
- Work with engineers, architects, and consultants with minimal oversight.
- Coordinate closely with multiple consultants, disciplines and project team members; provide leadership and excellent communication skills.
- Review shop drawings, specifications, handling CPAs, RFIs, and other documents.
- Interact with clients, both internal and external; some travel may be required.
- Assist with continual improvement of drafting and production standards.
- Minimum 2 years of fire alarm design experience and exposure to facility design is preferred.
- NICET certification or a Bachelor of Science degree is preferred.
- Experience with Autodesk products (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks) is a plus.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and PDF creation software such as Bluebeam and Adobe.
- Strong motivation, continuous improvement mindset and willingness to take on new challenges.
- Excellent relationship‑building skills with project managers, teams, and clients.
- Associate degree in a related field or a high school diploma with relevant education and experience.
- Entry‑level NFPA, ICC certifications or other credentials related to Fire & Life Safety.
- Proficient computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with specialty software required for specific design functions.
