Transmission Planning Engineer II

Position Overview

As a Transmission Planning Engineer II at OPPD, you will perform independent engineering analyses and support medium-complexity planning studies that shape OPPD's long-term transmission system strategy. You will work with cross-functional partners, execute standard study processes, and contribute to planning deliverables that support investment decisions, interconnection evaluations, and regional coordination. This role further expands technical depth while providing opportunities to improve processes and support junior staff.

+  Contribute to the execution and documentation of interconnection and system impact studies

+  Support OPPD
¿ s compliance, modeling exchanges, and coordination with regional entities

+  Improve team efficiency by identifying workflow enhancements and supporting documentation updates

+  Provide guidance and peer support to early
¿ career engineers

What You'll Bring

+  Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field (advanced coursework or experience preferred)

+  Solid understanding of power system analysis, modeling, and transmission planning principles

+  Ability to perform standard powerflow and short circuit studies with minimal supervision

+  Experience preparing technical documentation and presenting findings to stakeholders

+  Strong organizational skills to track tasks, data, and study milestones

+  Ability to collaborate with engineering, operations, regulatory, and other internal teams

+  

Preferred Experience s:

Experience with PSSE/Power World, scripting or automation, familiarity with NERC/SPP requirements, or 2-4 years of utility or consulting experience

Office:
Work will be performed in a modern office environment amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, and noises.  

Work Environment:  

Work will be performed in high traffic environments.  

Physical Demands:  

Minimal physical effort typically found in clerical work. Primarily sedentary, may occasionally lift and carry light objects. Walking and/or standing as needed and minimal.  

Salary/Wage Info

Grade: S4

Minimum: $90,759

Midpoint: $113,449
