HGM Associates is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer / Structural Bridge Engineer / Bridge Project Manager to lead and manage bridge design and transportation infrastructure projects for DOT and county clients in Nebraska and Iowa.
This is a career-defining opportunity for an experienced bridge engineer seeking to expand beyond project delivery into technical leadership, team development, and long-term firm growth. This role provides the opportunity to work directly with firm leadership while helping shape the future direction of HGM's bridge engineering services.
In this position, you will serve as the project manager for bridge design, rehabilitation, and replacement projects, overseeing structural analysis, design, and project delivery. You will also play a key role in mentoring staff, supporting business development efforts, and contributing to the continued growth of the bridge group.

- Serve as the project manager for highway and county bridge design projects, managing structural engineering tasks and coordinating project delivery
- Lead project planning efforts, including scope, schedule, and budget development
- Perform and review structural analysis, calculations, and bridge load ratings
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and development of junior bridge engineers
- Provide technical review and quality oversight of bridge designs prepared by project teams
- Coordinate with DOT and county clients throughout project development
- Ensure bridge designs meet AASHTO and applicable DOT standards
- Participate in bridge inspections and oversee preparation of inspection reports
- Support and participate in business development efforts, including client relationship management, proposal development, and identification of new opportunities
- Contribute to the growth and development of HGM's bridge engineering services
- State DOT highway and transportation bridge design
- County bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects
- Bridge inspections and load rating projects
- Construction engineering and inspection services
Required:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- 8+ years of bridge design experience
- Experience with DOT or county bridge design engineering projects
- Strong understanding of AASHTO bridge design requirements

- Experience managing bridge design projects
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior engineers
