Overview
HDR specializes in engineering, architecture, environmental and construction services. The Building Engineering Services Group develops critical infrastructure for the digital age, including high-performance data centers, commercial environments, and other advanced facilities.

- Create fire alarm system designs in a BIM model using provided design information, sketches, diagrams, and calculations.
- Generate contract documents from the BIM model and perform additional BIM tasks as outlined in the BIM Planning documents.
- Integrate design analysis software and analysis models/data with Revit (plus).
- Apply NFPA and industry standards to fire alarm system design criteria.
- Demonstrate solid multi‑discipline facility design experience, understanding project development from concept through construction and the interaction of discipline designs.
- Work effectively with engineers and architects with minimal oversight.
- Lead coordination between multiple consultants, disciplines, and project team members.
- Use excellent verbal and written communication skills throughout coordination and documentation.
- Familiarity with applicable codes, Fire and Life Safety (FLS) design criteria, materials, BIM model integration, specification editing, shop drawing review, CPRs, and RFIs (plus).
- Engage with internal and external clients as required, including occasional travel.
- Assist in continual improvement of drafting and production standards.
- At least two years’ experience in fire alarm design with related facility design exposure.
- NICET certification or Bachelor of Sciences degree.
- Proficiency with Autodesk products, especially Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and PDF creation tools (Bluebeam, Adobe).
- Commitment to participation in an employee‑owned culture.

- Associate degree in a related field or a High School diploma with relevant education and experience.
- Entry‑level NFPA, ICC certifications or other specialized credentials related to Fire & Life Safety.
- Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
- Specialty software experience specific to the design area.
- Commitment to active participation in an employee‑owned culture.
