Application Engineer Responsibilities
- Design and support industrial engine application packages for OEM customers.
- Collaborate with customers to resolve technical and engineering‑related issues.
- Perform field evaluations of engine applications and document findings.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, reports, and project records.
- Participate in engineering design reviews and provide technical recommendations.
- Mentor engineering team members by sharing application and field knowledge.
- Support sales, production, and service teams with application engineering expertise.
- Design components, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using CAD software.
- Develop and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and product specifications.
- Ensure engine packages comply with manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
- Investigate equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
- Support quality improvement initiatives throughout engineering and production processes.
- Coordinate with vendors and customers to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage multiple engineering projects while meeting established timelines.
- Travel as needed to provide customer support and application assistance.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
- 5-10 years of experience in application engineering within the industrial engine industry or a related field.
- Proficiency in CAD software for creating weldments, assemblies, and engineering drawings.
- Strong knowledge of diesel and spark-ignited engine systems.
- Experience with engine after-treatment technologies, emissions systems, and regulatory compliance.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, electronic controls, sensors, actuators, hydraulics, and communication protocols.
- Experience with data acquisition tools and performance testing equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and root‑cause analysis skills.
- Excellent project management, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross‑functional teams.
- Ability to lift moderate weight and work in a hands‑on engineering environment as required.
