SEH is seeking a Civil Technician to join our Omaha, Nebraska office. This is a great opportunity for an early‑career professional to gain hands‑on experience supporting civil design, project documentation, and field‑based construction activities while learning from experienced SEH professionals.
This role is expected to be a balanced office/field opportunity, with approximately 50% of time spent supporting design, documentation, reporting, and project coordination in an office setting and approximately 50% spent in the field supporting construction observation and project oversight.
Over time, the role may evolve into a hybrid schedule, with an expectation of three days in the office and two days remote, based on project needs and business requirements.
This position is currently anticipated to be part‑time; however, SEH may also consider candidates interested in a full‑time schedule based on qualifications, availability, and business needs.
This Opportunity:- Assist engineers with planning and design tasks, as well as field‑based project oversight.
- Calculate dimensions and prepare detailed dimensional design layouts for projects.
- Interpret engineering designs and draft project information using software programs.
- Prepare drawings, schematics, and exhibits for project reports and plans.
- Calculate quantities and cost estimates for construction projects.
- Monitor construction activities on transportation, civil, and municipal infrastructure projects to support compliance with approved plans and specifications.
- Document daily field and inspection activities, including material sampling, testing, and quantity measurements.
- Assist with pre‑construction meetings, progress meetings, and project updates.
- Maintain accurate, timely project documentation and reporting.

Qualifications:
- Two‑year/Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field, or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with project teams, clients, and contractors.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to document field activity clearly and accurately.
- Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and navigate rough terrain associated with construction sites.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
