POSITIONOBJECTIVE:
This position will oversee our new product line which is an ASME Pressure Vessel used for thermal energy storage.
To develop product designs that meet or exceed customer performance requirements & expectations and maintain regulatory compliance. To communicate design vision and details to: (a) Customers for acceptance and approval, and (b) Design Drafters for the creation of a production package.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze and interpret sales order requirements to develop product designs that meet customer performance requirements and expectations.
- Communicate product design details to Sales, Marketing, Customers, Vendors, Production, Design Technicians and CAD Technicians through drawings, sketches and written specifications.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of product design standards.
- Performs stress analysis, and strength of materials analysis to verify regulatory compliance of designs and assure product reliability.
- Produce product design models using solid modeling software (Inventor, Solid Edge) with supporting drawings and Bills-of-Materials (BOM’s).
- Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues. Root cause problem solving and analysis techniques. Continuous improvement philosophy.
- Develops written procedures and assists in the development of QC sign off documentation with the QC Manager.
- Evaluate Vendors and Vendor components.
- Develop and maintain Bills-of-Materials (BOM’s), Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s), and other engineering documentation.
- Develop, test and evaluate prototype designs.
- Design, source and evaluate manufacturing equipment for in plant use, including heavy fabrication equipment, as well as simple jigs & fixtures. Assist in the determination of equipment need, cost analysis & ROI.
- Knowledge of the ASME Code and DOT (Transportation Equipment) regulations.
- Knowledge of related EPA and OSHA regulations
- Must comply with all LBT, Inc., safety policies, practices and procedures.
- Participates in relevant software training including mastering and fully utilizing the capabilities of Solid Edge and Inventor.
- Attends relevant seminars, webinars, and workshops.
- Develop the required industry and product knowledge to complete tasks efficiently and autonomously (or as part of a design team).

Operations Manager, Sales, Purchasing, Warehouse, Scheduling, Supervisors, Plant Staff
EDUCATION/SKILLS:
- Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of previous experience in product or system design.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar engineering discipline required
- Product or system design experience, material selection, testing, BOM maintenance, cost control & reduction
- and design verification required
- Fabrication knowledge of welding processes and the processes involved in cutting and forming of sheet metal, plate, extrusions and structural shapes required
- Must be proficient in Solid Edge, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar modeling package required. MS Office required with MS Access experience preference
