Job Description

Join Olsson's Industrial team and help deliver innovative tank and vessel solutions for clients in agricultural processing, ethanol, food and beverage, renewable fuels, manufacturing, and other industrial markets.

As a Tank & Vessel Engineer, you will analyze, engineer, and design above ground storage tanks, pressure vessels, process tanks, bins, silos, and related industrial structures. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions for greenfield and brownfield facilities.

You will support a broad range of industrial projects, including facility expansions, process improvements, and new plant developments. This role offers opportunities for technical leadership, client interaction, and career growth.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering analysis and design for tanks, vessels, silos, bins, hoppers, and related industrial equipment.
  • Prepare calculations, specifications, drawings, reports, and construction documents.
  • Develop ANSYS finite element models for the design, repair, and alteration of tanks and pressure vessels.
  • Review designs for compliance with applicable ASME and API codes.
  • Develop detailed fabrication drawings for new tanks and pressure vessels, as well as alterations to existing equipment.
  • Coordinate with process, structural, mechanical, piping, and electrical engineers to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Conduct field investigations, site assessments, and condition evaluations of existing facilities.
  • Review fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and vendor submittals.
  • Support construction administration by responding to RFIs and reviewing change requests.
  • Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource coordination.
  • Participate in client meetings and provide technical guidance throughout project execution.
  • Travel to client facilities throughout the United States as needed.

You bring to the team:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong finite element analysis background; ANSYS experience
  • A minimum of at least 3+ years of experience working on Tank & Vessels.
  • Strong interest in tank and pressure vessel design for industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including API 650, API 620, API 653, and ASME Section VIII.
  • Experience performing structural and/or mechanical design calculations.
  • Proficiency with engineering software and analysis tools, including ANSYS and RISA.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute effectively in a team environment.
  • Must have your EIT/FE
  • PE license or progress toward licensure preferred.
