Responsible for the management of General Accounting Office, Cashiering/Accounts Receivable and affiliate accounting related to MOU’s.

Responsible for the general ledger accounts, University and affiliate financial statement preparation and management of all financial audits.

Assists the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Finance/Business Services and Controller in directing the University’s financial accounting functions and the most complex financial projects.

These functions include establishing and maintaining accurate: ledgers; accounting principles and practices; internal controls, policies, and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated leadership experience in general accounting. Strong management skills for effectively achieving the general accounting departments goals for financial reporting and its significant underlying workflows. Ability to identify and prioritize tasks, to carry out assignments from start to finish, to make independent judgments, and to function with minimal supervision. Ability to present technical information and training to all levels of UNMC community.

Effective communication skills to work with external auditors, internal management, staff and leadership. Ability to read, interpret and explain GASB , SAS , COSO , State regulations, Uniform Guidance, policies and procedures. Ability to supervise, delegate and instruct employees.

Accounting, Finance or related field

Experience at UNMC in a management accounting role with an emphasis on analysis skills, compliance and/ or auditing.

CPA Permit or the ability to obtain

Microsoft Access, SAP

Experience working with a variety of financial systems
