Cornhusker International Trucks, Inc. is searching for a full-time Assistant Controller who will work directly alongside the Chief Financial Officer within a small accounting team.

Essential Functions
  • Applies conceptual accounting principles in the preparation of financial statements such as: balance sheets, income statements, statements of revenue and expenses, and similar financial statements according to company-specific, state, or federal requirements
  • Prepares supporting documentation for financial statements and explains accounting events in conformance with GAAP
  • Reviews and approves accounts payable and cash receipts, and approves fixed assets according to GAAP standards
  • Identifies, reviews, and/or prepares financial transactions such as journal vouchers and Company location transactions, and advises management on issues, errors, and the need for correcting entries appropriately
  • Identifies and prepares adjusting and/or closing entries and transactions according to GAAP to accurately present the financial position of the Company
  • Analyzes and prepares necessary cash draws;budget allocations tracking, and remaining balances
  • Prepares information requested by internal, state and federal auditors
  • Identifies and assists with correcting deficiencies in internal controls
  • Works on projects involving analysis of cost and/or performance data; prepares reports and information to assist users in assessing service delivery costs and accomplishments
Skills & Abilities
  • Accounting experience maintaining general ledger and preparing financial statements
  • Processes accounts payable and posts receivables; collects on past due accounts
  • Reconciles every balance sheet account and ensures audit-readiness at all times
  • Prepares annual budgets and analyses budget to actual variances
  • Answers vendor & customer questions regarding invoices
  • Follows accounting department's process and procedures
Qualifications
  • Leads the accounting team with accounting processing and solving discrepancies that arise
  • Possesses strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel & Word
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication with top-notch problem-solving skills
  • Practices professionalism when communicating with customers and colleagues relaying information in a timely manner
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organization and analytical skills
  • Must be a team player with strong work ethic who carries vision to improve accuracy and structure
  • 5+ years in accounting, with a proven track record of owning the full General Ledger and end-to-end month-end process
  • Associates Degree in Accounting required;
    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred
  • Must pass a drug test & background check
