Role Description The Mortgage Loan Officer role is a full-time, on-site position based in Omaha, NE. The Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans, meeting with prospective borrowers, and guiding them through the application, documentation, and approval process. Day-to-day tasks include assessing borrower needs, explaining loan options, collecting and verifying financial information, and coordinating with underwriting and processing teams to ensure timely decisions.
The role also involves maintaining strong customer service standards, building relationships with real estate professionals and internal partners, and adhering to regulatory and compliance requirements. The Mortgage Loan Officer is expected to meet production goals while providing clear communication and reliable support to customers throughout the loan lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Experience in roles as Loan Officers or similar lending positions, with a focus on residential mortgage origination.
- Knowledge of the Mortgage Industry and current market practices, including familiarity with applicable regulations and guidelines.
- Proficiency in Mortgage Lending processes, including application intake, documentation review, and loan structuring.
- Understanding of Underwriting principles and the ability to collaborate effectively with underwriting teams.
- Strong Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, build trust, and manage borrower expectations.
- Ability to work on-site in Omaha, NE, and collaborate with branch staff and referral partners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation.
- Comfort with standard office and loan origination software; ability to learn new systems as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience in banking, financial services, or mortgage lending strongly preferred; relevant licenses or registrations (such as NMLS) may be required.
