Position Overview
The Government Affairs Policy Analyst will support Kiewit’s Government Affairs department by coordinating administrative functions and conducting research on policy, political, and regulatory issues that impact the organization. This entry‑level role works closely with business partners across multiple units to assist with communications, reporting, planning, and public‑facing community affairs efforts. The position also helps track key issues, prepare internal updates, support business development communications, and collaborate with external consultants and agencies.

LocationThis role is located at our downtown Omaha, NE Kiewit Headquarters office. The position requires regular in‑office attendance. Relocation may be provided.
Responsibilities- Support Kiewit’s Government Affairs Department.
- Conduct research and report on policy, political, and regulatory issues affecting the company.
- Act as a strong researcher, writer, and communicator and manage multiple responsibilities and priorities.
- Use government affairs and/or marketing and communications experience, along with basic project management skills.
- Report to the Director of Government and Community Affairs; the role is based in Omaha, Nebraska.
- Support the Government and Community Affairs team with invoicing, billing, accounting, reporting, planning, travel, meetings, and communications research.
- Understand key issues that could directly or indirectly impact Kiewit’s operations and anticipate communication strategies and materials.
- Partner with key functions to ensure the company effectively influences and works with those shaping local, state, and national policies.
- Support community affairs efforts associated with client and project public information activities.
- Conduct research and use key metrics to regularly assess the effectiveness of government and community affairs efforts.
- Ensure consistent communication of government affairs updates to internal stakeholders.
- Support business development teams across the company’s operating districts to enhance external communication efforts.
- Work with government and community affairs consultants and agencies.
- BA required (business administration, political science, journalism, marketing communications, or a related field strongly preferred).
- Experience in politics, government, policy, or regulatory matters.
- Excellent writing skills and strong attention to detail.
- Basic accounting skills.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal communication skills.
- Project management skills and ability to take a project from concept to completion.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and deliver high‑quality work.
- Ability to work with internal and external professionals on project teams.
- Willingness to work non‑standard office hours when necessary and travel as required.
- Experience using a broad range of communication channels (written, social media, web) to strategically influence and inform stakeholders.

- Proficiency in Microsoft 365.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation, and visual communication skills.
