Position SummaryA University Police Officer will perform general and varied police work in the protection of life and property through overall security measures and the enforcement of laws and ordinances. The police officer will have the responsibility to perform routine police assignments received from a dispatcher or a police supervisor. General duties will consist of routine patrol, case investigation, traffic regulation, and crime prevention efforts.
The police officer must be able to act without direct supervision and to exercise independent judgment in meeting emergencies, conducting investigations, and determining the appropriate outcome to such case investigations. Employees may receive special assignments which call upon specialized abilities and knowledge usually acquired through experience as a police officer. Will be required to assist other personnel of the police department in conduction investigations, interviews, interrogations, searches, arrests, referrals, along with associated documentation.
Assignments and instruction are received from a superior officer who reviews work methods and results through reports, personal inspection, and discussion.
